Seafood Gourmet: Fresh Seafood Market and Casual Dining Experience in Maywood, NJ

The food was plentiful and delicious. However, the service was a bit slow due to the busy Saturday night. I ordered the fried Combo from Fresh Catch, which came with a salad. The salad dressing was particularly tasty. The Combo included shrimp, scallops, and fillet, all of which were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the New England clam chowder, which was equally satisfying. For dessert, we both opted for vanilla gelato, which was served at the perfect temperature. Unfortunately, the restaurant closes at 8:00 PM, but we’re already planning our next visit.

The food was beyond delicious. The portions are decent and price is fairly reasonable. Especially because you are receiving fresh seafood. The waitress was amazing, she was nice and very helpful. I will definitely go back to eat!!!

Seafood Speakeasy! This unassuming Fish Market’s best kept secret is that it operates a restaurant in the back of the marketplace with the freshest catch you’ll find anywhere! Truly so good they will have you hook, line and sinker! The Halibut is to die for and lobster bisque with generous lobster portions. Better yet, if you want your favorite fish cooked a certain way, they’ve got you covered! Blackened swordfish? No worries matey! The room is small, immaculate and intimate yet service is kind, friendly and expedient. Note there is an early dinner crowd of locals, so timing is key. Nonetheless, despite the humble setting Seafood Gourmet churns out the most delicious seafood around, rivaling the most discriminating seafood establishments you can think of. Set sail on a voyage worth taking! PS Did I mention it’s BYOB?!

It’s a small space, so reservations are a must, but the fish is incredibly fresh and flavorful. This was my first visit, and although we mostly ordered appetizers, everything was delicious. I also brought home flounder that they prepared and cooked on-site—perfectly done! Highly recommend.

I was in the mood for fish and ordered from this restaurant. I called in my order of haddock, rice and spinach. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked into a fish market. I told the man my name and I paid and left. When I dug in the rice and spinach was real good. The haddock was ok tasting. I definitely want to try their shrimp next time.

What can I say? This spot is definitely a hidden gem in Maywood, NJ. The front has a store full, fresh live, and large cuts of fish with all types of fresh salads. In the back section has a restaurant with the most delicious food I've ever had:WOW!! What can I say, amazing food ,friendly staff ,limited seating, but constantly crowded people moving in and out but today I had to wait more usual due to I had a party of 5,but worth the wait . COME AND GET IT ,NOW ! Will not be disappointed, I guarantee it.

Was in the area and was highly recommend. It was dinner time to I decided to do a takeout order. I called ahead for a lobster roll that would be ready in 10 minutes, it really only took 5. It came warm so I was really excited. Would recommend paying cash as they do charge the 3% credit card fee which wasn't disclosed when I asked if cash or credit was better but it wasn't a big deal. It ended up being $30. Getting into the sandwich, the bread was buttery and toasted with huge chunks of lobster stuffed in it. I should have mentioned that I would have preferred Maine style (butter) vs. Connecticut style (mayo) but honestly the Connecticut style was not bad at all and I'm usually not a huge mayo person. It wasn't drowning in the mayo or too overwhelming and the finely chopped celery added a nice subtle crunch, again not too overpowering. Totally worth the money in my opinion. I would definitely come back here to try the other items on the menu or even to pick up some fresh fish for cooking. They have seating in the back for the casual restaurant part.
